Crystal looked at the stone in her hands. Its power was frightening. One tiny, offhanded comment had completely changed her relationship with her husband. Who knew what else it could do if she wasn't careful? She quickly put the stone back in her purse. Things might be weird now, but if she didn't think hard about her next wish, things could get even worse. Besides, she thought, at least we're going to the ballet now.

She looked around the room, to see what else might have changed. She spotted the framed photos on top of her dresser. Gone were her and David's wedding pictures, replaced with other scenes. One familiar picture remained, of Crystal and her sorority sisters standing in front of their sorority house. They all wore matching pink t-shirts with their Greek letters on the front. And standing next to Crystal in the picture was David, wearing the same pink t-shirt, with short shorts and pink flip flops. So David had been a sister of Lamda Delta, just like Crystal.

Her eyes scanned the other pictures. There was one of her and David at their college graduation. At first glance, it looked the same as before, but Crystal noticed David now had smooth, bare legs beneath the graduation robe, with sensible but stylish pumps on his feet. His fingernails were manicured and his face immaculately made up. Another showed her, David, and a few other young women in a posh nightclub, dressed to the nines, holding brightly colored mixed drinks. Crystal tried to process a few more pictures, when she heard a knock at her bedroom door.

David entered, wearing cropped black yoga pants and that familiar pink sorority t-shirt. He was carrying a two steaming mugs of chamomile tea, handing one to Crystal. She loved to have some hot tea after work, to relax. Now it seemed David did, too.

"You look like you had a rough day at work," David said as he sat on the bed beside Crystal. "Want to talk about it?"

Crystal looked up at David, he had that same caring look in his eyes that she had fallen in love with, despite the eyeshadow and mascara. She knew she still had a best friend, but what could she tell him?
