As we walked down the hall, he looked nervous. "Why did you do this? You're a Switch too. You'll be bullied for sure. Quinton is a Loko and the others won't let him be bullied. Do you like being a bread shuttle?" he asked. I did not respond to that. "Sorry. I don't meant to pry. I really am grateful" he said. I looked at him and said "Don't worry about it. As Fojun Switches, we have to look out for each other." He looked as if I was a hero to rescue him. If it was how he saw me, I could use it. "So, do you like being an Alpha or Omega better? If we work hard starting now, we can be in an Elite mecha in no time. Unless you don't want to team up?" I asked. He looked shocked and pulled me aside. "How could you ask me that!? Of course I want to be an Alpha! That's why I'm in that class! They don't think a Switch should be able to do it, so they want me to go to the Omega class. Or drop out all together for making them feel like an Omega is getting close to them." he snapped. He then apologized to me again. I forgave him. I got where he was coming from.

It also made me choose what I wanted. Fuck them and their elitism. I was a Switch and I was going to use it to my advantage. I decided to put my eleven skill points exclusively into the Omega trees. For Operation, I put two stars in the Boot-Up skill. It granted 10% reduction of booting time per star. On average, it takes 10 minutes for an Omega to fully boot an Elite mecha. This meant I would be able to do it in 8 minutes. I had to put two stars in order to reach Super Synergy. That allowed me a 5% raise to synergy per star. There were instruments that measured brainwaves and bloodwork to see which pilots would be compatible. Under 20% and it would be a miracle if it even could boot up completely, let alone move. 55% was lowest synergy rating a pair could have to even be considered. 70-85% was considered the optimal range. Over 90% was dangerous as one could completely bond to one person and be unable to pair with someone else. Next I put two stars in radio to get the escape pod. It was bare bones with only a first aid kit. I then went to Adaptability. I used three schools to get the wheels, blades and laser. I added another in lasers to get a rocket.

The character creation screen gave me Energy Field Generation and the Alpha ability to wield swords. The other two stars were for outside the mechas. I had a bit more stamina than normal and I could also maintain and use pistols. There were no take backs when it came to the skill trees. I asked Alphonse how would we know if we were compatible. He was busy buying the food for the bullies in the class. He stopped what he was doing and he nearly dropped some of the food. He had a huge blush on his face. I must have touched a nerve. "N-no one ever told you the urban legend!? They say that a pair will work if they kiss and it tastes sweet. Alphas and Omegas are genetic pairs, after all. Bitter tastes mean it is a bad pairing." he explained with surprise. I looked at him expectantly and he flinched back. "But there's no point in doing that here. We have an infirmary and a biolab. You just need to give some blood to the nurse or technicians and they will tell you." I nodded. It made sense to me. I helped him carry some of the food back. The bullies looked at me in confusion. They were not expecting me to take his side. They would probably have a response the next day.
