The king just rolled his eyes and said "You know nothing of the oppression we have suffered! The pain we feel!" He looked ready to tell me, so I allowed him. A decade ago, most of the islands worshiped the gods that they saw fit. However, a brutal death cult of the sun god came to power in one of the city states. It was aggressive and imperialistic. Luckily for them, the two neighboring islands were open to the idea of sun worship. They formed a coalition to enforce Talmin supremecy. That caused a war among all the islands. There were only four islands not under their grasp at the current moment. They either fell in battle or began to practice Henotheism with Talmin as the supreme and dominant god. Istolin, Sebin, Kopoi, and the island of Defoon were not willing to worship Talmin at all. That meant they were the targets of the coalition. The Istofon were going to conquer their brethren in the name of Talmin and the others would fall after. I realized that a radical cult would be a road block to pacifying the natives and establishing a colony. My path was clear.

I needed to liberate the islands from Talmin. The king finished talking. I told him my story and my intentions to create colonies and a protectorate in the name of Wendalia. He looked murderously angry. The other Istolin looked that way as well. Some of the knights even reached for their swords. I said "I have a proposal for you. If you agree to allow to build a port and base on the opposite side of the island, I will ally with you. All you need to do is accept our protection and fly our flag under yours in the city. I do not think that is too unreasonable." The king said "It is unreasonable. That monstrosity you call a ship and large idols won't defeat an entire coalition army! Don't offer things you cannot deliver!" I looked surprised. They were watching. "There is a nice view here? Sign an agreement with me for the land to build a port at least and I will give you a demonstration." I said. The king rolled his eyes and called for a scribe. "Fine. But I will not shelter you if you lose your ship and bring ruin on us." The scribe wrote two copies and we signed it. The king then affixed his royal seal on both. That was what I wanted to see.

Our ship was off the shore and the blockade was much further off than that. I could see everything from this vantage point. I hummed and said "Hmm. this is as nice a view we can. Are you ready for a small taste of the power of the Wendalian Royal Navy. Once you see it, you will not be able to go back. Is that alright with you?" The king glared and I snapped to attention. I checked the radio and tried to come in contact with the men on my ship. If it did not work, I would look stupid. They answered and were ready for instructions. "Bring the Battle mecha squadron to the gates of the city. I want them ASAP." I ordered. It was a ten minute wait before the Battle mechas took to the air. The Istolil were shocked and jumped back. They flew in formation before landing at the gates. I thanked the intrepid squadron and sent them back to the ship. They did so with a "Yes, sir!" and they went back to the ship in the water. I turned to them and said "Do you see now? I think it will be quite easy to take the whole island with these."

We gave an overwhelming display of power. It was clear that they had never seen anyone fly before and they were speechless. "That is not even the biggest one we have as you can see for yourself." I said. The king called for his scribe and signed off on all my previous requests. "Your idols can take to the air? You are magicians, are you not? How else could you accomplish this?" The king asked when he found his words again. I shook my head and said "If I were to tell you that our homeland had inventions and machines beyond your imagination and comprehension, you would just have to believe me." The marshal said "So you say you will liberate us. How will you do it? Those idols are certainly marvelous, but how effective will they be in the water? They will sink to the bottom." I shook my head and said "I could kill them all in ten minutes. How many men do you have for defending the city? I'm very interested in knowing." There was a pause before he said "We have 300 garrison men, 50 knights and 500 added conscripted men. That is sizeable, but not enough against the once 1200 men of Istofon."
