"Give me the device," Karyn ordered Jon.
But he didn't. Instead, he decided to press the screen over the word ERASE. Suddenly, the entire list of traits disappeared from the screen and a different-colored beam of light shot out from the device and struck Karyn in the head.
Jon immediately tossed the device on his bed and grabbed Karyn. "Are you alright?" He thought that if he hit ERASE, then it would ask which trait or traits he wanted to erase. But he had an uneasy feeling that the device erased all of her personality traits. Could a person exist without a personality?
"I'm fine," she said, with a monotone voice. There was absolutely no feeling in that voice. There were computer voices that had more life to them.
"I'm so sorry, Karyn. I didn't mean to erase everything," he said, trying to apologize. But it seemed that it didn't matter.
"It's okay," she said. Still no feeling whatsoever. He knew that normally she'd be mad. Really mad at him for doing something like this to her. But it was like she didn't care. In fact, she didn't really care about anything. She just existed. She was no better than a robot made of flesh and blood. Memory, intelligence, and experience ... but no personality to make her seem alive.
