AN: From interactive "Fanfiction Gender Change", chapter originally written by Mr.George

Ron was in a funk. Harry and Hermione were buried in books in the library, and that gave him time to be alone. Alas, that meant that he was thinking about his life and how average, and insignificant it was.

He was just another Weasley, not as studious as Bill, he was destined never to be a prefect. Just like Percy. He knew that for a fact, even without magic. He lacked Charlie's passion for magical creatures, a fire even Hagrid had noticed. Grinding his teeth, too at the fact that Charlie had also played Quidditch for Gryffindor. Just like the twins, just like him.

Hell, the twins, even though she might curse them loudly and frequently. Ron was sure that they were Molly's favourite. They had an easy charm, a laid-back manner and luck that meant that things just happened for them.

Harry had given them the money, but it was the twins who ran the business. Frankly that surprised the hell out of everyone else in the family.

Even Ginny, little Ginerva, well, she would be the first Weasley daughter to come to Hogwarts. He scuffed his feet as he walked along.

An afterthought, that was it. He was an afterthought, a hanger-on. Even with his friends, even Hermione and Harry, they liked him, he supposed, but he was just sort of there. Never the one with the breakthrough, never the one to lead.

Oh God! He was the Gryffindor equivalent of Crabbe or Goyle. He sent a loose stone skidding across the passage in anger at the realisation.

"I can help..." a voice hissed on the breeze.

Instantly, Ron drew his wand. It was almost certainly Draco, had he been muttering, talking aloud.

"I can help..." the voice repeated, spectral and sibilant.

"Show yourself." Ron answered as bravely as he could. But he couldn't even pin down where the voice was coming from.

"Just through the door... on your left."

Ron tried the door.

"Your other left." is said in an amused tone.

Looking a little embarrassed, he went to the right door, and opened it. The room was unlit, with only a beam of light catching the dust from a small window, and the shape of the glass on the floor. He could almost make out shapes in the room, perhaps statues covered in cloth, or mirrors, but they looked fairly immobile.

"I can make you unique." the voice promised. Even now, he couldn't pin down the direction. It was clearer, and inside the room, but beyond that he simply couldn't tell.

"I'm not scared."

As he entered the door, the door wrenched itself from his grip, and slammed shut with a resounding oaken boom, shutting out the light from the corridor.

Lumos.

His wand bloomed into life, lighting up the whole room.
