He was forced to ring the doorbell, because he didn't seem to have his key on him. The door opened, revealing his mother.
"Oh, hi...We'll be ready to go in just a minute," she said, with a friendly smile.
"Oh...umm...okay," Jon said.
Linda Madison stepped aside to admit Jon into the house. "Where's your bag?" She asked, suddenly.
He looked at her blankly.
"Your bookbag. Did you forget it at home?"
"Yes," he said, quickly. Wait a minute, isn't this my home?
"I guess we'll swing by your place on the way," she said. "You're so absent-minded sometimes. I hope we're not late."
