Jeff couldn't sleep after that strange dream. Surreal dreams were not something he was unused to. It usually happened when he was stressed. It certainly wasn't wussing out. No... absolutely not. He was just having a really bad day. It certainly wasn't because he thought Ricky was attractive- okay now maybe that was a little weird... after all he thought his girlfriend was too- even if- well- never mind.

He had lost or was in the process of losing everything that had been important to him. Sure... everyone had lost something in this sunlight buisness. Something personal like their identities, their very body... or... or...

... his girlfriend...

...."I'm supposed to just accept it? Just like that?" He asked aloud. He wanted to kill whoever did this. he wanted to demand some reason... some... explanation... but honestly, would any explanation suffice? Jeff had his own theory on the sunlight, mostly after watching Death Note. He figured the sunlight involved some kind of 'Kira' person... as soon as you wondered into the sunlight, he or she just... decided... what to do with you. It certainly wouldn't be God... just someone... some person

someone out there... someone he 'could' get his hands on, if he ever figured out how.

He grunted and quietly got dressed. He walked downstairs, to the front door, where the strange rainbow light cascaded down from the Heavens. He gave just a little smirk, as he took out a leather glove slipping it onto his left hand, and carefully opened the door.

The teenager knew it was stupid. Maybe his father had a point... he did flirt a little with the sunlight... there was a sort of thrill to it. Like... hovering one's hand close to a flame, to see what would happen...

"Can you see me Kira?" He asked, as he thrust his gloved hand into the sunlight. "Do you know who I am? Do you know how angry I am... over what you did to Belle?" he said with such determination, and spite. "I bet you can see me... I bet you even want to transform me. But you know you can't unless you catch me in the sunlight... it just isn't going to happen. There's nothing you can do to make it happen...nothing" he moved his gloved hand upwards, and downwards, marvelling at the strange sunlight on the covered surface, and even more at the thought of this 'Kira' being so ticked off at him.

So close and yet so far... Jeff laughed a little. Oh if his father saw this!

A mail-man came into view- at least he assumed, and the boy suddenly felt a little self conscious of what he was doing. He pulled his hand away, as the strange cow... creature... saw him.

"I wouldn't do that kid," said the cow. "One hole and you're done for."

Jeff glanced down at her udders, then back to her. "I guess it would be a bad Moove..." he said unable to help it and chuckling a little.

The cow creature frowned a bit, then practically 'dumped' the letters onto the porch. "Yours."

"Hey- er wait!" Jeff said quickly. It was just a joke!

But the mail man had already gone.

Jeff grunted as he slowly pulled the mail in, with his gloved hand. Great... okay... so... that was probably a little dumb. Honestly, why were the changed so sensitive 'after' it happened? At least the worst was 'over' for them...

He went inside to see his mother in the living room. She seemed upset about things... but that was not unexpected. They were in the process of divorce. He would probably rarely see her again of his father got his way... it hurt... but then... what exactly was there to say? Jeff could always just go see her, even if... it wouldn't really be the same.

His mother hugged him, and for a moment Jeff relaxed a little. It was not often they got a chance to just be together like this. "So... it's over right? You and dad?"

Jeff's mother shrugged. "I have a few tricks up my sleeves..." She had been sleeping in the guest room for the time being. "I'm going to sort it all out. Don't you worry. You have to be strong though..."

Jeff nodded. Well if anyone could count on him for something, it was certainly by 'not caring'. So he turned on the television, and just tried to... switch off.

Just... don't think about it. Don't think about how you messed up. Don't think about how you have nobody who cares about you any more. Don't think about how much you really wish Ricky were here, or that you still had her Master Key... Don't think about how much you wanted to keep her, and really, don't think about the mermaid who's life you made miserable, and wishing you could right now just... go to her...

... Jeff really wasn't any good at not thinking.
