There are four ways, to change a number.

Addition, subtraction, Multiplication, division.

These four Operators, took the form of large solid golden gears, manifesting in strange energies- an energy that itself, was now a dark shadow, as it sifted and teased a shaft of glorious light, creating.. making.. dividing, and multiplying... subtracting all that it made. Each creation was unique, special in some way... It was not entirely a machine, not quite a giant clock either... not even a person... but it was all this, and more... so much more.

The Great equation was more then just infinity. It was the way to generate infinity, using nothing but numbers. A feat unknown, even to humans. Essentially, by pure mathematics, it contained all that was, is, and would ever be... and all that could be.

Including, the Enemy...

The Enemy, existed as part of the unknown expression as weeds, much like prime numbers would crop up in random patterns... when the gears of logic rotated, they started to group together, forming a collective consciousness. They explored this strange equation to all possible realities... quickly finding, the Four Operators...

They merged themselves to these gears, becoming the Enemy-Operators, influencing the Great Equation in subtle ways. They desired to explore more then just the mathematics of their existence... but of the other strange worlds hinted by infinity.

But even in merging, they could not stop being the Operators... things had to be Multiplied, Subtracted, Added or Divided. Reality was more resilient then to allow those created, to destroy the creator.

Magic girl one, divided the dividing operator, by herself... and essentially nullified it's own equation. This drew the Enemy out, in a spectacular force... One was among the most powerful, in this reality.

Magic Girl Two, was attacked by the subtractive operator trying to nullify her number. Quickly Magic girl 4 reflected that energy, turning four back into two and restoring her power. This was a very peculiar battle!

Magic girl 2 in turn, got hold of the additive Operator, and added back 2 to magic girl Four, restoring her powers quickly.

On and on, the battle went, as each Magic Girl was besieged in four directions, each trying to maintain the power of their number... much like a simple puzzle game, striving for a form of equality. Each time they fought, more of the Enemy would be spilled out from the core of the Equation. Like vast wraiths, of shadow... made from numerous realities.

The magic numbers realised that their actions here, was drawing out the Enemy from reality... from All Reality... and all potential realities. There was nowhere, for the Enemy to hide any more. The Equation may have been the driving force that created them... to solve itself?

Soon, the entire nature of the Enemy, would end up at lakeside...

Lilly watched as a reflection on the strange mirrors of this reality. She was not a number, so everything that happened here was just.. beyond. It was like being a ghost. She couldn't do anything, but just watch and observe her friends fight. Still even that, she felt... maybe privilaged, to see them at a battle, even be a company to them. Numbers just.. didn't have to be alone... not them. Not these Numbers.

"But we're just kids," said the little girl to herself. "Why do we have to fight this war?" She was just a reflection, on the floor, standing next to the reflection of magic girl Four as she battled the operator. Lilly noticed that these enemies had no reflection at all...

It was a very strange place really. A floor made of light, that existed beyond infinity... beyond all that was. If she could, she would have taken any of the magic girl's place. She was really an elder boy, and these were just children... younger then her... even if she was among the youngest now, it wasn't how she felt it should be.

Then she saw magic girl Four in danger. The operators were up to something... and... she knew this equation, just by the way the gears ticked and moved. They were going to square root her number, using the other magic girls as the power! It looked so simple to her... why couldn't they notice the pattern?

The magic girls seemed to realise just a little too late the danger, as they became paralysed. Their numbers becoming the exponent as they directed the root at the largest number... Jenny. Lilly quickly took hold of her blue stick, and started to draw a square around Jenny's feet, glancing at her reflection a moment as it was locked in a state of shock. She then drew each of the four numbers on the corners of the square... "one... Two... Three... Four... Squared!"

Suddenly, there were two of each magic girl. While there was brief confusion, each acted in consort and the battle continued...

Lilly watched in awe. Mathematics were power here... and her abilities of geometry seemed to add a 'spacial' power, to the purity of numbers, though it drained the blue stick even more to do it. Still she added more. "Cube!" She shouted.

Then there were three of each magic girl, still fighting. Lilly's presence was adding an exponential factor that the Enemy could not match... the ability to make shapes out of the numbers... a powerful force here too.

The battle was very quickly over.

The Great Equation was now purified... Lilly could feel it. The Enemy, was no longer within the potential dimensions, real or imagined... any of them.

... which meant, the only place it could now exist, was in lakeside.

The glass floor, seemed to shatter as both worlds were consumed into another bright light...

Lilly shook her head, noticing they stood in darkness. "Jenny?" she called.

Jenny blinked, staring at her. How did she get here now? "Lilly? What's goin' on? For a while there was two of all of us an' then three an... it was all so confusin'."

Lilly hugged her friend quickly, the other magic girls looking quite bemused at the situation.

"Where is the rest of the monster now?" asked Morgan.

"We're standing on it," said Becca.
