Jon woke up with Zoe lying on top of him where they had both lost consciousness. He moaned gently, his head killing him. He shook Zoe. "Wake up..."
She stirred, and looked at him. "What happened?" She sounded just as disoriented as he did.
"I...the last thing I remember, there was a book, and...Can you get off of me?"
She rolled over and tried to get to her feet, still looking a bit shaky. He did the same.
"Where did they go?" Jon said, suddenly...looking for Linda and Mikey.
Zoe frowned. It took her a second to realize they were missing. "There...was a spellbook, and..." she said. She remembered a spell being cast, and Mikey walking into the middle of it, but not what it was supposed to do...
"You're having trouble remembering what happened clearly too?" Jon said.
"Yeah, and it's kind of scary," Zoe said.
Jon put his arms around her comfortingly. "It will be all right. We'll find them, and figure out what's going on."
Zoe relaxed, the gesture making her feel better.
