Quietly, we gave birth to 4 kids. They were Taylor, Nathan, Dustin and Chelsea. Chelsa and Nathan were human. The others were vampires. I then turned the woman and we made sure to get them pregnant again. These new 4 were all vampires. Brandon, Malcolm, Stephanie and Susan. They all took the last name Jadestone. Having more mouth to feed meant needing more blood. I was able to get them pretty easily. Using mind control, there was no mess and no crime scene until we dumped a body somewhere. In the meantime, I found where the vampire haven in the city was. It was a small brothel in the red-light district. I made sure to do lots of business with them to keep them well funded. They could smuggle goods and vampires in and out of the city. You needed grunts in order to help take over the city. The brothel was also a meeting place for other high-ranking vampires that visited the city. Since I was ancient, no one knew who I was. I did know where the vampire council was. It was where it always was- miles away. It would take 5 days by train. Hopefully, I could get my money back.
Really missing the power to lounge in a throne, I could get the council to buy me a new villa. That was when I hear howling. I drew my shortsword and shield. I went over to the source of the noise as quickly as possible. It was the section of the market I saw the werewolves in. It must have been a secret werewolf pack posing as a guild or merchant alley. That something that I should have been doing. That was the price to pay for choosing poor people to make my main spawns in the city. I could see some hunters were fighting them. In the fray, I saw Alexander get surrounded. He was using a barrier spell to keep distance, but it did not look like it was going to last. I was not going to stand there and watch him die. I went out and began fighting my way to him. I impaled one through the spine before slicing another in half. I repelled another one with my shield. That gave Alexander time to zap them with lightning. It seemed to singe them. I helped fend them off while Alexander was blasting them with his new spells. When they had us surrounded again, he chanted. It was an effective binding spell.
I then watched as he took a silver dagger and slit the throats of 5 bound werewolves. The battle was heavily in the hunter's favor. I was not the favored prey, but it would still be bad to stick around. I left and Alexander was way too busy collecting trophies from his kills. I should have had my clan join in on the action. It would have been risky, but the ability to level up would have been amazing. When I got back to the house, I explained everything to them. They were surprised. I made sure they knew not to answer the door if it was not me. They all nodded. The next day, I went to the library. Alexander was there waiting for me. There were no books on the table like there normally was. "Did I catch you as you were just getting in?" I asked with a smirk. He looked at me sternly. "Cut the shit, Daniel. I know what you are." he snapped. I just shrugged as I sat down. "Did you score big points within your lodge? 5 confirmed kills is nothing to sneeze at." "I got promoted to Novice Hunter and was immediately advanced to Journeyman." he said. I sighed and said "I'm happy to hear that. You're good."
