The housecat took one look at her and stood up on its hind legs. As Karyn and Jon watched in astonishment, its spine spraightened out, and its paws separated, forming clawed fingers and a thumb. Finally, it grew to human size...

"Would you care to repeat that, human?" Kiki purred.

Sarah gaped at her. "What? Umm...How the hell?"

"You walk by here every day...and you kicked me yesterday...and you always are rude to me...You really should learn respect..."

"Respect for a fleabag like you? Uh...puh-lease...Get real," she said.

She picked Sarah up by the shoulders. Sarah suddenly began to shrink. Before long, she was the size of a a housecat. Her clothes fell to the ground. Kiki put Sarah down and slipped into Sarah's discarded clothing. Sarah found she couldn't move. She didn't understand why she was now a foot tall.

"You see...little human...we have always been the most intelligent species on this planet...we are powerful enough that you never could see it. The housepet thing is an act..."

"What are you going to do to me?" Sarah asked.

"What is your name?"

"Sarah..."

"I think I will be you for a while," she said. Her form, shimmered...until she looked like a carbon copy of Sarah. She smiled at the real Sarah. "And you will get to be me..." Sarah's form shimmered and reformed as a housecat. "No one will be able to understand you. All they will hear are meows and purrs. Now...scram...or I will kick you." Sarah ran toward the house.

Jon and Karen gaped as the feline, looking like Sarah, continued down the street. She turned, and crossed over. "Hello," she said, in a friendly manner. "Do we not attend the same place of learning? I thought I would come and greet you."
