Suddenly, a shot rang out and Charlie saw one of the creatures get hit. Then he heard shouting ... in English?
"Got one!" a man yelled.
Another shot rang out and the second creature got hit. What was going on? Was he caught up in some sort of intergalactic war zone?
"Hey, what are you doing out here?" The voice came from behind him. He slowly turned around, not sure of what he'd find. But he was relieved when he saw that it was just a normal human. Well, except for the futuristic-looking clothes, that was. "I asked you a question."
"I ... uh ..." He wasn't sure what to say.
"Come on. No civilians are allowed on the hunting grounds." He grabbed Charlie's arm and pulled him with him.
"Hunting grounds?"
"Didn't you see the sign?"
"No. I sort of ... dropped in." Charlie looked back and saw a couple of guys surrounding the wounded creatures.
"Dropped in? From where?" The guy shook his head. "Never mind. It's not my business. You can just explain it to the authorities."
