Karyn rushed as quietly as she could to Jon's room. She felt a ribbon coming out of his parents' bedroom on her way up the stairs. She felt tempted by it, but she was easily strong enough to resist. As she passed it, along her way down the hall to Jon's room, she felt a ribbon leading to Jon's younger sister Zoe's bedroom. That one felt different than the rest, but she couldn't put her finger on how.

When she got into Jon's room, she saw him sleeping soundly in his bed.

There was a relatively faint ribbon that she noticed when examining him, but she tried her best to ignore it and avoided touching it. The temptation to pull it and start to wrap it around her, although it definitely existed, was easy to resist. If she had to compare what the ribbons felt like to a sensation she'd experienced before, it was almost like she was starving to death when she grabbed that man's ribbon earlier, and now, when thinking about this ribbon, she was already pleasantly full. It would be nice dessert though. She shuddered at her intrusive thought.

"Jon, wake up." Karyn shook Jon awake.

Jon quickly sat up, and let out a startled gasp.

"Don't worry. It's just me," said Karyn.

Jon took a deep breath. "You startled me, Karyn. What're you doing here?" He was still breathing a bit heavily from being scared awake. Maybe I should've chosen a less violent method of waking him up. Karyn thought. I guess it worked well enough though.

"Jon, I think the wish had some really weird side effects on me. I'm not sure if they're bad side effects per se, but I think it's best to use the stone to confirm my suspicions."

"What happened?" Jon asked.

Karyn was quite embarrassed at his question. She knew it was coming, but she couldn't believe the answer herself. More than that, she knew that she'd like to do it again.

"I did something I wouldn't do before the wish." She kept her answer vague.

Jon gave her a quizzical look.

"It wasn't anything bad, was it?"

"I didn't do anything bad to anyone!" she replied empathatically, and a bit too loudly for it being the middle of the night.

"If you say so... You didn't need to go that far to convince me."

"Let's use the stone to learn exactly what happened to me. I think I have a pretty good idea of what happened, but I really don't want to believe it," said Karyn.

She was telling the truth. She hoped that what she was thinking happened wasn't the truth, but the evidence was pretty damning. She didn't think she personally disliked her changes so far, but if the truth was what she thought... She decided to not think about it until she'd actually confirmed what she had thought.

"Also, I think I may be in a bit of a bind, but don't make any impulsive wishes to wish me to be "fixed", because this last wish's fix made me change more." Fortunately, this change wasn't completely bad, but who knows about future wishes.

She picked up the stone, and started "I wish..."
