I do admit I tend to be heavy-handed.

Ironically, though, this time it was done more out of innocence - I assumed the story would be "fixed" then and there, and then I had my own considerations re: complications from the "pics online" thing.

Regarding the "changed are too powerful" stigma, what you wrote is perfectly fine, but I'm hesitant to have Lucas deal with THAT too (not that it would really matter: this is just a school jock that already disliked the changed anyways).

Then again, yes, what Lucas did WOULD strike people as being too powerful. And by the time as she has explained that most of her power DIDN'T come from her change per se, even assuming she CAN explain that, she'll have gotten a whole motherfucking lot scarier. Picture how you'd react to someone telling you, with proof, that they have liaisons with several gods, at least one of which has a HUGE impact on the lives of people and countries (Hermes) and that they saved the world and a normal reaction won't be "Cool, this is Superman", it'll be "Oh, fuck, this individual has a LOT of power..."

In fact, you just helped me visualize something: While Lucas is generally a nice person and VERY liberal, people who knew of her abilities and her history in depth would have plenty of reason to find her TERRIFYING.

Just for one instance, a normal individual would realize that the god of commerce owes her a huge favor. If she saw fit to do so, she could call in that favor and have that god destroy the entire economy of a CONTINENT if she so wished.

Of course, Lucas wouldn't ask this of Hermes and Hermes wouldn't do this for Lucas even if asked. But go tell that to the scared person that is in the know about Lucas's full details...

Heck... The Doctor Who thing might even work from another point of view. Like the Doctor, Lucas may well have gotten so "big" that some of the (admittedly very few) people who know her might begin to think she has gotten TOO powerful and try to stop that.

Lucas is, in short, a wild card with lots of power, and people who already hold power, be it political or any other, aren't too keen on those...

Mind, I am NOT saying I plan on doing it right now or without running it by you guys, but it IS food for thought. ;)
