Getting it on was pretty easy. I then used the small switch on the wrist. The suit then snapped to my body and it was like a second skin. I then picked up my other clothes and left the dressing room. When I was outside, all of the other cadets in the SWAT training area were getting ready to start as well. Our test mecha suits were a bright candy apple red on top and on bottom was barn red. I got in a 5-meter mecha and they instructed me on how to turn it on. As it powered up, I could feel a tingling on my head going down to my spine. I could see a new interface in front of me as well. The synchronization rate allowed the user to better use the mecha. Apparently, this body had a cool 73% rate for the mechas. We were told at the meeting from the officer that they did not allow anyone in the SWAT team with a synchronization rate under 70% for safety reasons. No one wanted a slow response or a shitty pilot messing things up and making an emergency worse. That is why you had to be an elite. Luckily, this avatar was one. I was taught how to fly and how to use all the energy guns and blades.

Having a good accuracy rate with the guns hopefully made me a good contender for a position. I was not the best with a blade, but I thought it was okay. Not many actual people were here anyway. Out of the 200 cadets, only about 50 were here to try out for SWAT. The rest must have known that they would not be able to cut it. That just made it better for me. Less competition and all that. After that display, I got out of the 5-meter mecha. I needed to get into the simulator pod for the 100-meter mecha. As the 100-meter mecha was so big, it was too much for any 1 pilot to control. Therefore, there needed to be 3 pilots in one cockpit found in the chest. Once again, all 3 of the pilots together needed to have an average synchronization rate of 75%. I was below that, so I needed to find at least 1 pilot with a rating of 77% or higher. That was just the law of averages. Now, how to determine that and get in a 3-person team with a third member with a 75% or above synchronization rate was the challenge. There was no way to know without asking. Being lower than needed would disadvantage me.

I just started going around the 5-meter mecha again and started shooting the shit with some of the cadets. Since I had done it before, I was able to engage with them on shooting all of the different guns. One of the guys was a redhead with a short hair and brown eyes. There were some freckles on his face. He was really happy after getting out and said "It was so great in there, man! I even had an 81% synchronization rate for the mechas!" I smirked as that was way more than enough for the needed rate average. "Hell yeah, man! Firing the guns was cool. What's your name?" I asked. He said "My name is Ethan Muster. What's your name?" My avatar answered for me. The name I was given was Tim E. Boi. Obviously, Timmy thought that it was very funny. It was another thing that was not going to forgotten when I got my deserved revenge on him. Ethan did not think it was since that was not possible for NPCs to respond negatively to names unless they were overt slurs of some type. That was to keep Players from doing it. A few days of being stonewalled by NPCs would teach them.

As a 73% and an 81%, we averaged out to 77%. That meant we needed someone over 71% to get over the 3-pilot average. That was going to be easy. There was a quiet guy with glasses looking around nervously. He looked a bit timid from the way he slouched and was keeping to himself. I pointed him out to Ethan and we scooped him up. He looked shocked that we were coming straight for him. He looked from side to side and behind himself. It was a little funny to be honest. We asked if he went to the 3-pilot simulation yet. Of course he had not. Ethan asked for his name and he said it was Brody Dakota. His blond fringe nearly covered the tops of his glasses. He had a droopy eye shape, that made him look eternally sleepy. His eyes were also green, but his was a reasonable shade for a human unlike my neon lime ones. We asked him to join us. He sputtered and looked even more nervous than before, but he did not turn us down. When we got to the pod, the scientists were waiting. They all gave us a brief rundown on what was going to happen. There were 3 roles in piloting.
